Saimaa Ringed Seal Meets Danube Beaver
An international collaboration exploring Europe's unique aquatic ecosystems and their endangered inhabitants
Our Mission
Twenty students from Kesämäki School in Lappeenranta, Finland, and twenty-one students from ERG Donaustadt in Vienna, Austria, have joined forces in an Erasmus+ project to study and protect endangered species in their local ecosystems.
Our schools are uniquely positioned near significant water bodies: Kesämäki School overlooks the pristine waters of Lake Saimaa, while ERG Donaustadt is situated along the majestic Danube River, near the Donau-Auen National Park.
Project Goals
Through this collaborative project, our students are:
- Exploring the rich biodiversity of our local ecosystems
- Documenting endangered species and their habitats
- Understanding the challenges these species face
- Developing strategies for their conservation
